The EBelaire Model 2 is quiet. It produces <55dB of sound (measured at 6 feet).
The EBelaire Model 2 System weighs in at 4.5 pounds
The Battery consumption is a variable. It is affected by the overall requirements of the individual bagpipe. Chanter Reed Strength, Drone Calibration and an airtight bag are all factors. The Supplied 6.0Ah battery powers my 30 inch Chanter reed and EZ-Drone reeded instrument for over an hour of playing 4 minute sets with 4 minutes rest. At that point you can either recharge the battery or just pop in a freshly charged supplemental M12 battery to allow you to keep on playing !
NOTE: EBelaire™ can be operated, continuously, for 20 minutes. A cooling down period of 15 minutes is then required to avoid internal component damage.
Yes. The EBelaire attaches to the existing Blowpipe stock. The only adjustment needed is the addition, or subtraction, of hemp as needed to achieve a tight fit in the stock.
We strongly recommend that all moisture control devices be removed before using the EBelaire. These all add resistance to the flow of air to the reeds. The EBelaire delivers air at about the same moisture level as your current ambient humidity to the Reeds. Generally this is fine but if more moisture is needed install a baby bottle trap and 'moisten' the absorbent cloth in the bottle!
The system supports chanter reeds requiring up to 30 inches of water pressure as measured using a manometer.
Yes! It takes some practice and a good knowledge of the behavior of your bagpipe. Timing the initial 'Puff' to start the pump at the beginning of the second 3-pace roll allows the bag to inflate and sound the chanter at the proper time. Stopping is accomplished by applying a second 'Puff' to the control unit which shuts off the pump and closes the integrated flap valve allowing the player to stop the bagpipe cleanly in a normal fashion.
Yes! In 2023 both the American EUSPBA and the Canadian PPBSO sanctioned the use of the EBelaire™ for individuals competing individually and as members of a band!
